This month we spoke to Elin Hughes, Payroll Admin Assistant at The Accountancy Partnership!

Give an overview of the duties, functions and responsibilities of your job.

  • Setting up PAYE schemes for new clients
  • Running monthly payrolls
  • Helping clients with any payroll related enquiries

What is a typical working day like for you?

Each day is different, but I always start the day with a bowl of Krave cereal, then start on my emails. After that, I could be dealing with payrolls for the month, pensions, or tax codes, there’s lots of variety.

What are some of the biggest challenges faced by your clients?

Some clients are new to setting up and running their businesses, so I spend time trying to help them understand how we can help them.

What is your favourite part of the job?

The team that I’m part of – I feel like this makes a huge impact!

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

How lovely and friendly everyone is, the food and the dogs.

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

I’d say I’m good at communicating with colleagues and clients.

Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?

I enjoy travelling and seeing new cities. Can’t say no the pub either!

How would your colleagues describe you?

I asked and they said, “you never stop singing and entertaining”.

What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?

Gossip Girl on repeat, as always.

Who do you admire, and why?

My manger told me to put her! Suzanne Goodier-Dodson.
