How do I take money from my business?

We get it. You’ve started out in business, and now you want to pay yourself. Our short help videos and tutorials will guide you through the different methods for paying yourself as a sole trader, or through a limited company.

As a sole trader or partnership, the profits are yours, and it’s up to you how they are used. You’ll be taxed on the profits that are made, and not just on the money you take out of the business to pay yourself. Remember to put money aside to pay your tax bill, to avoid any nasty surprises!

Paying yourself through a limited company is a bit more complicated. The profits still belong to the business, so there are rules about how you take money out of the business in order to pay yourself.

Watch our video guide to paying yourself to learn more.
