This month we talk to Karen Jones about her business Galaxy Tattoo, an affordable local tattoo studio.

Hi Karen! Tell us about your business

Galaxy tattoo is not just a tattoo studio its a family who learn from each other and look after each other. We love to raise funds for charity. Our main charities are Macmillan and Birkenhead dogs home. We sponsor a local under 12 football team which is run by one of our clients. We pride ourselves on being a calm, relaxed and welcoming place to get a tattoo.

We believe everyone should be able to afford a tattoo in this day and age. This is why we have a range of ways to pay which helps our customers afford their ink. We understand how important a tattoo can be to someone who is grieving, has anxiety, low self esteem or just erasing a bad memory from the past. My team and I love our jobs because we can do this for people in our local community

What drove you to start the business?

My love of helping people and love of art. I was always told to use my talents to help people, galaxy tattoo gives me the platform to be able to do this.

What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?

Finding the right shop, having enough money to start up and finding the right team.

What do you have planned for your business in the future?

To continue to be helpful to people in our local community, maybe open a second shop.
