We talk to Kathryn about her role as HR Assistant here at The Accountancy Partnership.

Give an overview of the duties, functions, and responsibilities of your job.

I’m responsible for internal bookkeeping, HR processes, and the monthly payroll.

What is a typical working day like for you?

My first task each day is to check all the payments we’ve received from clients overnight and notify the relevant departments about these. I’ll then update Sage with these payments and sort through my emails before moving onto my next tasks, which vary from day to day.

My other tasks include raising invoices, making payments, bank reconciliations, keeping on top of employee stats, monthly checks, requesting info from new starters, and the monthly payroll – which is the biggest task of all.

What particular challenges do you regularly encounter?

The monthly payroll is an increasingly time-consuming task with TAP growing as much as it is. It can be challenging but I enjoy it.

What is your favourite part of the job?

I enjoy the problem solving elements of my job, such as figuring out where/who a payment should be allocated to, or working out the first or last payslip for new starters and leavers.

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

The relaxed atmosphere and casual dress code – it’s great being able to go to work in comfy clothes!

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

Being able to manage my time efficiently and having a keen eye for detail.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Definitely quiet and reserved, but hopefully friendly and helpful too.

What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?

I’ve just started watching This Is Us, which I’m enjoying so far.

Who do you admire, and why?

My dad is my hero, he is the most selfless person ever – he always does anything that he can to help someone in need and he has a heart of gold. I’m very proud to be his daughter.

What question would you really like to answer, and what’s the answer?!

Q. Best character on Friends?

A. Obviously it’s Chandler.
