This month we spoke to Jamie McColl!
Give an overview of the duties, functions and responsibilities of your job.
My job consists of completing tax returns, annual accounts, VAT returns and building relationships with clients by helping them with any problems or questions they have.
What is a typical working day like for you?
My day starts usually with a coffee and answering any emails, then onto any accounts or VAT returns. Throughout the day, there can be client calls and or Pandle support calls to answer.
What particular challenges do you regularly encounter?
There are sometimes questions that clients ask which can be quite tricky, this is made easier with very supportive colleagues.
What are some of the biggest challenges faced by your clients?
Payments on account for Self Assessment, clients are sometimes unsure on why they would pay for next years tax bill in advance. We have a guide on it to help!
How are you able to use your skills to solve problems for them
Being able to communicate with clients in order to achieve the best possible outcome. Studying accounting and finance in university has prepared me well for this job.
What is your favourite part of the job?
The fact I get along with everyone so well, lunchtime isn’t bad either!
Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?
I am usually on either a pool or snooker table on my days off.
What’s your proudest achievement?
I would say getting my degree in 2023, this took a lot of hard work.
What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?
Usually, if a new series come out on Netflix I’ll just binge watch it all in a day!
Who do you admire, and why?
I admire my family, as they do a lot for me.
