Hi Luke! Tell us about your business

Titan Cards Ltd is a specialist online retailer of Trading Card Games and accessories formed in 2018 by myself, a long term TCG player and collector. Although Titan Cards was only formed officially in 2018 I’ve been involved in selling TCG’s online since around 2003.

We have now have a catalogue of over 30,000 products and growing, and offer worldwide shipping. Our core products are popular trading card games such as Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Cardfight Vanguard.

What drove you to start the business?

To run a business based on something I enjoy and have experience with in my personal life, and to work for myself.

What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?

Due to my ambitious nature I provided myself with the obstacle of deciding to back-catalogue every Trading Card ever released from 1999 to present (2018 at the time) in order to provide the most comprehensive offering to potential customers. I also had some very established competition to deal with in my niche. We have since become an established name and brand in our industry.

Why did you choose The Accountancy Partnership?

TAP have an excellent reputation on Trustpilot etc, this was probably the main factor. I have stuck with you since because my accountant (Sam) is excellent, offers good advice and timely processing of VAT returns and so on.

Have we helped you overcome any challenges, and if so, how?

When I first passed the turnover threshold that required me to VAT Register it was slightly terrifying but you guys helped and guided me and now its just standard stuff and no longer scary!

What do you have planned for your business in the future?

I’ve just taken on another full time employee and will be taking someone else part time very shortly! We are also looking to broaden our product offering to smaller more niche trading card games and collectables as well as the ‘meta’ big games we already carry comprehensive offerings for.
