Give an overview of the duties, functions, and responsibilities of your job.

I complete the annual accounts for my portfolio of clients, as well as filing VAT Returns, Self Assessments, and Corporation Tax Returns. I also help my clients with any questions they may have.

What is a typical working day like for you?

I often have an initial consultation booked in first thing in the morning. These are designed for new clients to understand the key information relating to their accounts and tax returns. I then work through the emails in my inbox from clients and colleagues and then work on the accounts for a client.

What particular challenges do you regularly encounter?

As all of my clients are completely different, I am often faced with very niche situations and queries that I may not have come across before. Luckily, I can always rely on my colleagues for help if I need it.

What are some of the biggest challenges faced by your clients?

It can be difficult to get the hang of everything they need to know about tax and accounting. Luckily, they’ve got us to help!

How are you able to use your skills to solve problems for them?

I like to think I’m good at explaining tricky concepts clearly to my clients, which can help when they have just started their business and are unsure about how the taxes and accounts work.

What is your favourite part of the job?

The wide range of clients means that the job is never boring, as there’s always unique challenges every day.

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

I love how we all get on – it’s a very friendly environment. I also enjoy the free smoothies!

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

I think I’ve always been pretty good at maths, which is very important, especially when I have to get my head around tricky adjustments to the accounts.

Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?

Not really visiting, as it’s right on my doorstep, but I love talking walks along the Wirral Way on the weekends. I also like going shopping in Liverpool City Centre every so often.

Tell us about your proudest achievement.

Outside of work I do some local theatre, and I’ve recently been cast in my first lead role in a stage adaptation of Terry Pratchet’s Wyrd Sisters which I’m very proud of.

How would your colleagues describe you?

They’d probably say I’m a bit quiet – I usually just come in and get my head down. But I’d like to think they’d say I’m fun on a work night out!

What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?

Since the Wicked movies came out, I’ve been making my way through the books – so far, I’ve read two out of four, and I’m really enjoying them!

Who do you admire, and why?

Elle Woods from Legally Blonde – she used her confidence and hard work to get into and graduate from Harvard, even when everyone around her thought she couldn’t!
