Aaron Parkinson is an absolute gem of an accountant, and such a nice guy. He spent so much time reviewing my accounts with me over the phone, before they were agreed and finalised. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for the service I continue to receive. Highly recommended.
Graham Price
I am extremely impressed with Ben Salisbury and The Accountancy Partnership's service. As a first-time self-assessment client, I was very late submitting my records and felt stressed about the process. Read Staff SpotlightWhat business structure will you use for your social media influencer business?
New to influencing? Don’t worry – we know choosing a legal business structure can be a bit daunting! Once you’ve earned over the trading allowance, you’ll need to report your earnings to HMRC so you can pay tax (if you need to) on your profits.
Many influencers choose between either becoming a sole trader, or a limited company. We’ll talk you through everything you need to know, so you can decide on the best fit. You can find us on live chat or call us on 020 3355 4047.
If you do decide to form a limited company we’ll even register you with Companies House, and guide you through the process of registering everyone involved, saving you up to £120!
What accountancy services will I need for my influencer business?
The services you need will depend on how you operate, but almost all influencers need to submit a tax return so HMRC knows how much you owe. Running a limited company means you’ll file a Company Tax Return, whereas sole traders submit either a Self Assessment or an MTD Income Tax return.
That’s why our fees include these essentials as standard! We’ll make sure you claim all the deductible expenses you’re entitled to – from lighting to giveaways – so you don’t overpay.
Additional accounting services for influencers
Every business is unique, and the accounting support you need can change as your business grows. Rather than bundling services together, these are available separately for low monthly fees whenever you’re ready.
VAT Returns
Complete VAT management from registration and tax efficiency, to making VAT submissions.
Bookkeeping
Bookkeeping support tailored to your influencer business, with help from your own dedicated bookkeeper.
Payroll
Fully managed payroll, auto-enrolment, and workplace pensions support for employers.
MTD IT Updates
Quarterly MTD Income Tax updates prepared and sent by your dedicated accountant.
FAQs
Influencer FAQs
Having a good influencer accountant can be very reassuring, helping you save time, money (and stress) in the long run. As an influencer you’ll likely have several streams of income – like sponsorships, affiliate income, merchandise, etc. An accountant can help you understand how to manage all of them, ensuring you stay tax compliant and tax efficient.
We include Pandle Pro for all our clients, but we will work with you on any bookkeeping system you like!
You can be either, but what’s better for you might be different to someone else because it depends on things like your total earnings and financial goals. Some influencers will start out as sole traders because it’s simple and cost-effective, and then switch to operating as a limited company later on.
You can claim any expenses ‘wholly and exclusively’ used for business purposes. For example, camera equipment, software tools, travel and accommodation for brand trips. As long as it’s exclusively for business it should be classed as an expense – but if you’re ever unsure, speak with an accountant.
All income counts as taxable, including things like PR gifts. An accountant will make sure everything is reported correctly, and help you plan for tax payments so you don’t get caught out at the end of the year.
All our accountancy service packages come complete with everything your business needs. This means your accounts, your business’s tax return, and unlimited support from a dedicated accountant are all included as standard. Plus, you’ll get access to Pandle Pro bookkeeping software and Client Hub for easy, seamless management of your account.
