Hey Cheryl! Tell us about your business

I’m a scientist specialising in acne, anti-ageing & sensitive skin. I’m also an award-winning skincare formulator who’s way more friend next door than bow tie wearing professor.

Through my 1-2-1 services & video courses I’m here helping women to get healthy, happy skin they feel comfortable, confident & like freakin’ awesomesauce in! I often get asked… How are you different from a dermatologist? It’s simple, most dermatologists will create you a skincare plan of medication & topicals aka products you apply to your skin (so fancy sounding).

I’m here to uncover the root cause of a woman’s skin concerns using published science to figure out what your body’s shouting. This takes into account your whole body health – signals like your monthly cycle, gut health, diet, the supplements you’re taking, and more.

What drove you to start your business?

For 5 years I struggled with acne and it was my own experience that the advice from doctors and pharmacists wasn’t helpful. I was once told there was nothing that could be done, I would just have to accept and live with it. I dived into the published literature and over a few years made educated, natural, sustainable changes to my skincare, diet, and lifestyle, which healed me from acne. I now help other women to find the same clear skin confidence.

What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?

My biggest challenge has been wearing all the hats at one – a scientist a marketer, a website designer and in the beginning my own accountant! Over the 8 years I’ve been running my business it’s been a skill knowing when to outsource and trust someone else to do an even better job than me. It was a relief to hand my accounts over.

What do you have planned for your business in the future?

I’m hoping to help hundreds more women heal naturally with my new video course Acne Warrior which guides women on how to find hormonal bliss naturally so skin can be resilient and clear (and they can feel awesome).
