Hey Nadja! Tell us about your business
ECN Music offer bespoke music production, strategic marketing, creative services, release admin, international distribution to musicians, bands and labels, managing all aspects of a self-release process.
What drove you to start your business?
An existing organic collaboration of four individual music professionals became a business of four equal shareholders to grow our impact and combine expertise with an even more united approach.
What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?
Working collaboratively and inclusively within a very agile and often erratic industry is not always easy. Finding time and space to share the decision-making process was a new experience for all of us.
Why did you choose The Accountancy Partnership?
We had previous experience and always liked the service model. We like the flexibility, price point and light touch. We can be as much or as little involved in our accounting work as we want. That suits us.
Have we helped you overcome any challenges, and if so, how?
Peace of mind first of all. We’re also grateful for advice on how to best set up our salary model and shareholder scheme.
What do you have planned for your business in the future?
We’re operating within the smallest possible margins to keep costs low for the artists we work with. That won’t change. But our aim is to extend our product portfolio, value-adding services and territory to benefit the wider music industry and introduce new revenue streams.
