We talk to Tracey Byrne about her role as an Accounts Senior here at The Accountancy Partnership.
I am currently building up my portfolio of clients made up of Limited Companies, Partnerships and Sole Traders. It is my responsibility to look after my clients by preparing their accounts, tax and VAT returns.
I usually start by going through my emails for a couple of hours, answering client queries and maybe a scheduled telephone with one of my clients. After that I will start work on any VAT Returns or accounts that are in my jobs list. I’m still building up my client portfolio, so I will help one of my colleagues with their workload if needed.
I need to manage my time to make sure I meet all my deadlines, as well as keeping on top of the changes in tax legislation.
A lot of our clients are new to business so it can be difficult to understand the tax and VAT systems. Particularly when moving from being employed to working through their own limited company.
I always try to keep up to date on the latest tax rates and any new legislation. Using past experiences helps me to solve any current problems. No two businesses are the same, but thanks to my years in practice there aren’t many issues that I haven’t faced.
I love getting a job done and having a satisfied client!
The whole working environment, they really look after the staff, such as with free smoothies and lunch twice a week. Last Valentines Day we all had chocolate and Love Hearts, and the whole office was covered in red heart balloons.
I would say time management is most important, with accounts deadlines, emails and general day today duties, I need to be able to balance my day.
I love helping my sister with our horses in Neston, or walking my dog.
Apart from my three boys, all nearly grown up now, it would be riding my twin-sister’s 5 year old ex-racer. Galloping along Hoylake beach at 33 mph, wow what a buzz, and I managed to stay on!
Hardworking and trustworthy.
I love reading thriller books like James Patterson’s Alex Cross series – my husband and I have read them all at least once. We’re also binge watching Prison Break and Peaky Blinders again!
My Mum and Dad – they have taught me everything I know and brought me up to be the person I am today.
