This month our Staff Spotlight shines on Henry B! He talks us through his day helping clients maintain accurate data.
What is your job title?
I am the one and only Data Checker (so far!). It’s my job to monitor clients using Pandle accounting software, and review their accounts on a regular basis. It involves giving clients tips on using the software, and how to keep their records so they are as accurate as possible ready for when the accountants come to work on them.
I am also part of our bookkeeping team. We do support shifts, so I often answer client queries through email, phone call, or on our live chat!
What is a typical working day like for you?
In the morning, I check for any requests. After that, I double check to see when I have any consultation calls, and whether I’m on live chat in the morning or on the afternoon shift.
When I’m not on support, I work through Pandle reviews for our clients. In between all of this, I will answer emails as soon as possible, which are commonly responses from my reviews and working through extra queries. I always like to keep my inbox empty, it looks more pleasing that way!
What is your favourite part of the job?
I reckon it’s when I’m able to explain a concept to a client and to see/hear that moment of understanding. It really feels like a win.
What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?
The friendly nature, absolutely. I was new to working in an office before I came here, but everyone made me feel so welcome, which allowed me to settle in quickly and nicely. Even now as I’m working from home, I never feel left out!
What skills do you find most useful to do your job?
I think it’s so easy to type out what you want to say, but then the person on the other end reads it and takes it in a way you didn’t intend. I grew up using online chat, and the ability to get the right tone across by managing the words you type is something I’ve found incredibly useful, particularly in my live chat work.
Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?
Being just across the water from Liverpool makes it an easy day off, walking around the city, buying some fun things, and ending on a gorgeous bite to eat.
However, my absolute favourite was always Alton Towers! As a kid I used to live quite close to it, so I would go there once or twice every year, and I adore rollercoasters so much.
Tell us about your proudest achievement.
Getting my black belt in Ju-Jitsu was a major one for me. And then if gaming achievements count, 100% completing both Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, or being in the top percentile of Tetris players in the world!
How would your colleagues describe you?
That one that doesn’t follow football!
What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?
This is pretty tough for me actually; I am bad at binging shows since most of my entertainment comes from YouTube. However, me and my girlfriend are really big anime fans, and we have a (way too long) watchlist.
Who do you admire, and why?
Is it tacky to say my girlfriend? We work together perfectly, always supporting and helping the other up, and encouraging each other to do what we love and feel however we want to. I’d be nowhere without her by my side, and I’m always happy to be by hers.
What question would you really like to answer, and what’s the answer?!
Who’s your favourite Pokémon? It’s Jolteon, I have so many plushies of him!
