Sean Foster tells us more about his role as Sales Executive here at The Accountancy Partnership.

Give an overview of the duties, functions, and responsibilities of your job.

I’m here to support new and potential clients with their enquiries about our services. Around this I work with introductory partners and help Henry support the team where I can.

What is a typical working day like for you?

New and potential clients can contact us using the website chat box, emails, incoming calls and generating instant quotes. So, from 9 to 5.30 I’m usually juggling these to make sure clients get a timely response answering their questions.

What particular challenges do you regularly encounter?

Balancing the different communication methods that clients reach us on can get a little hectic at times. Also, we often deal with complex accounting requirements that do need some investigation before we can provide support.

What are some of the biggest challenges faced by your clients?

HMRC. They provide all the information someone might need to understand tax implications on the website. But finding and understanding what is relevant to them can be very hard. Especially for someone starting out.

How are you able to use your skills to solve problems for them?

I’m not an accountant but have a good scope of tax knowledge from my time here. Along with my communication skills, this allows me to present information to people who are daunted by the tax system, or who are new to it, in a way that they can understand easily.

What is your favourite part of the job?

In the office, the team I work with are great and we do have a good laugh to take the edge off a demanding fast-paced workload.

In the work itself, the best feeling I get is when I am speaking with someone who is pulling their hair out trying to understand tax and they end up leaving the call calm and no longer fearing the tax man.

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

The quarterly nights out are great, always fun, and allow me to get to know our ever-growing team.

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

Communication and time management.

Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?

Anywhere to explore and have fun with the family really. We all love a good swim too, so pools, lakes, and beaches are great, preferably when it’s warm though.

Tell us about your proudest achievement.

Recently most of my proudest achievements are tied closely to my kids’ development, from seeing my son fight through a fear of bike riding, and hitting a 97% pass mark on his 11+, to watching my daughter perform amazing aerobatic feats in her presentation. But one thing I hopefully will be proud of this year will finally be getting my own property, which is so close.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I asked and the survey said: Knowledgeable, reliable, nerdy, and sarcastic (can’t complain with that).

What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?

Currently reading Stephen Fry’s Mythos again. I’ll pretty much watch any sci-fi/action series, comedy series like ‘8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ and ‘Taskmaster’, and cooking shows too (The Chef Show on Netflix is good).

Who do you admire, and why?

My fiancée. She joined university as a mature student, completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees, all while raising 3 brilliant kids, holding down jobs and supporting me too, and is now working on a PhD fighting to help improve the mental health of new mothers.

What question would you really like to answer, and what’s the answer?!

Do I have an answer to this question?
