Our spotlight this month shines on our marvellous bookkeeper, Neil!
I’m involved in all aspects of bookkeeping from VAT quarters, to annual returns for companies. I also provide our clients with support for Pandle – our cloud bookkeeping software – too.
I always start my day by replying to overnight emails, then I will carry on with work from a previous day or start a new job, or take my shift on Pandle support.
I’d say following-up with clients and helping them to provide all of the relevant information is the most regular challenge. It takes a lot of organisation and discipline!
If I’m unable to solve a problem through my own knowledge or experience, then I’m good at taking a step back to think of possible solutions. I also know that Rome wasn’t built in a day, so I’m not afraid to ask for help from colleagues either.
I like that I have my own individual tasks to complete, but at the same time there’s a team effort that keeps the cogs turning.
The atmosphere in the office, and everyone singing from the same hymn sheet. I also enjoy the variety of work, and that there’s room to progress.
Being a fast learner has helped me in all walks of life, as well as being driven to always learn and progress. I never feel as though I’m standing still.
Depends on the weekend really. If it’s my weekend with the kids then weather depending it’s the likes of New Brighton, Blackpool or a drive to Wales. On my child free ones, if I’m not playing golf then I’ll visiting friends at theirs, mine, or a pub.
Apart from the cliché ‘my kids’ I’d say getting to where I am now after deciding to change my career from Dental Technology to Accountancy in my mid 30’s.
I’m guessing greedy. Even before eating a Dominos pizza in 4 minutes!
Nothing at the moment but the last thing I binged was ‘Your Honour’. Being a fan of ‘Breaking Bad’, any series starring Brian Cranston is a must for me!
Being a Liverpool fan, I’d have to say Jurgen Klopp for the amazing work he’s done. Not just winning us our first league title for 30 years and the Champions League, but the fact he is so genuine, grounded and cares about the club, staff, fans, and people in general.
Name four random claims to fame? Three true and one false.
1. I have saved a penalty from a Premiership footballer.
2. I provided security for The Queen and Meghan Markle.
3. I once appeared on an episode of Hollyoaks.
4. Ian Brown from the Stone Roses has my initials in his tooth.
The lie was number 3, I’ve never actually appeared on an episode of Hollyoaks!
