We talk to Leah Porter about her role as an Admin Assistant here at The Accountancy Partnership.

Give an overview of the duties, functions, and responsibilities of your job.

Any administrative duties, phones, dealing with client queries by phone and email, and registration forms.

What is a typical working day like for you?

Say hello to any dogs that may be roaming the office, make a brew and start by checking my emails. I then plan my day and respond to client queries. In the afternoon, I make sure to crack on with weekly tasks.

What are some of the biggest challenges faced by your clients?

I think Covid has had the biggest impact on our clients and their businesses.

How are you able to use your skills to solve problems for them?

Being approachable, friendly, and honest. Listening to client queries, making notes, and guiding them in the right direction if I am unable to directly solve their problem.

What is your favourite part of the job?

Definitely the dogs being allowed in the office! Close second would be the friendly and welcoming atmosphere at TAP.

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

How well the staff are treated, the quarterly nights out/events, and free lunch twice a week definitely helps!

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

Time management and being organised, as well as being friendly and approachable.

Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?

Anywhere along the Wirral coast, especially Thursaston.

Graduating with a 2:1 in Applied Psychology.

How would your colleagues describe you?

The best brownie baker (I hope…)

What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?

The Secret by Rhona Byrne and Women Don’t Owe You Pretty by Florence Given.

Who do you admire, and why?

My sister and best friend, Sammy. She’s my biggest supporter and motivator in life. She’s a dedicated neonatal nurse and can do anything she sets her mind to. She works so hard (and treats herself just as much!), and is always striving to do and be more. My fave person ever.

What question would you really like to answer, and what’s the answer?!

Wheels or doors? It’s gotta be wheels…
