We talk to Jade about her role as a Payroll Admin Assistant at The Accountancy Partnership

Give an overview of the duties, functions and responsibilities of your job.

Processing payrolls, registering clients for PAYE, updating client’s tax codes, answering queries over email and on the phone.

What is a typical working day like for you

Every day is different and busy, but there are always a lot of email queries and calls with HMRC… and usually a lot of singing!

What particular challenges do you regularly encounter?

As I am new to payroll, I have a lot of new information to store, but I like a challenge and I am enjoying learning something new every day!

What are some of the biggest challenges faced by your clients?

Some clients may be new to starting up a business so may not know how payroll works. Luckily, the team are always on hand to assist them throughout the process.

How are you able to use your skills to solve problems for them?

I am a good listener and I am able to think logically, so I can give the best advice based on a client’s individual needs.

What is your favourite part of the job?

Top 10 at 10 on Greatest Hits Radio is a great start to my day, and just generally being able to laugh with the team every day!

What do you like most about working for The Accountancy Partnership?

I love how my team has made me feel so welcome so quickly. I have learnt so much in such a short space of time. Lots of office dogs make the day better too!

What skills do you find most useful to do your job?

I am organised and I am able to multitask.

Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?

Hikes with my bestie Beth, my mum’s house, and the pub!

Tell us about your proudest achievement.

Buying a house and completing my level 3 CIPD qualification – all in the middle of lockdown, without ripping my hair out!

How would your colleagues describe you?

Little, with a big personality.

What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?

I have just finished watching This Is Going to Hurt and I’m currently watching House. So, anything funny and medical is good for me!

Who do you admire, and why?

I should probably say something nice and write my family, friends etc. but it’s probably Paul Rudd. How can anyone look better the older they get, and still be that funny?
