We talk to Ellen about her role as a Sales Executive at The Accountancy Partnership.
Give an overview of the duties, functions, and responsibilities of your job.
Responding to emails, giving suitable quotes for potential clients, and answering questions regarding our accountancy packages.
What is a typical working day like for you?
Check my emails, make a cup of tea, and then crack on with the day calling any clients and dealing with inbound enquiries. And snacking through the majority of the day.
What particular challenges do you regularly encounter?
Explaining to clients I am not a qualified accountant when they are asking me questions on the implications of Brexit, IR35 and tax rates! Once they sign-up for our services though, they always direct access to their accountant, so can get the help they need.
What are some of the biggest challenges faced by your clients?
Dealing with the new governmental changes regarding tax and in some cases, dealing with poor standards from their previous accountancy firms who have left their accounts in a mess.
What is your favourite part of the job?
Speaking with new potential clients and hearing about their businesses. It’s interesting.
What skills do you find most useful to do your job?
Problem solving, interpersonal skills, and being friendly and conversational.
Where’s your favourite place to visit on days off?
Taking my dog to the beach and then popping into my favourite garden centre.
How would your colleagues describe you?
One of a kind
What are you reading/binge watching at the moment?
Who do you admire, and why?
Anyone who has the ability to keep all their house plants alive without killing any of them. It’s harder than it looks.
What question would you really like to answer, and what’s the answer?!
What’s the key to happiness? Animals (specifically my dog Marla and my cat Pablo – they would cheer anyone up).
