Our staff spotlight this month is Charlie Bilsborrow! Charlie explains her role as a Digital Marketing Executive here at The Accountancy Partnership.
I’m a Digital Marketing Executive!
I’m the person who makes things look nice! From web pages to videos, graphics and even data visualisations – if someone wants something to look jazzy, I’ll probably have a hand in it.
I spend most of my time in the Adobe software suite, Figma or Gravit tinkering away at some graphic or another until it looks good enough for me to publish it. My job is super fun and I often end up jumping from task to task to keep my day varied.
You know those pictures where you look at them for ages and see different things in them? Like that famous one with the vase and the faces? Sometimes that happens when I’m working on a specific set of similar graphics for too long!
The team and the casual atmosphere! After three years in the fast-paced world of recruitment, it’s great to come to an office where I can wear casual/comfy clothes (no stuffy suits or dresses) and have a laugh with a wonderful group of likeminded creative folk.
I love the freedom I have to just get on with my job. The atmosphere is so supportive and trusting! (Also, the PS5, PSVR and arcade machine don’t hurt).
I find my coding and illustration skills come in most handy day-to-day. So, thank you, past-me, for learning how to draw so that I could make Pokémon and Dragonball Z fan sites!
I’m a homebody, so if I have a day off, I’m more than likely curled up on the couch with a good book and a hot chocolate. A woman’s home is her castle after all.
My proudest achievement has to be passing my master’s degree with Distinction – all that crying on the floor of the library at 3am was worth it!
According to the rest of the creative team: delightful, hilarious, creative, animated and slightly scary if anyone messes with the websites.
Probably to everyone else: Quiet 🤐
I just started reading the new English translation of Mo Xiang Tong Xiu’s Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. It’s really interesting seeing the differences between the original novel and the Netflix series.
Been playing a lot of games recently too – Deathloop and Disco Elysium!
And as for watching, I’ve been binging F4 Thailand, All of Us Are Dead and Always Sunny.
I really admire Hayao Miyazaki! His animated movies are super wholesome works of art, and his imagination really seems limitless. When I was a kid, Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle made me realise that animations could be layered and complex and his stories still stick with me today.
I’d love to take a tour of Eastern Asia! I’ve already checked out China and Hong Kong, but Japan and South Korea are up there on my list – ideally with a cheeky pitstop to Thailand on the way so I can go to a Mew Suppasit concert!
