You can sneer all you like and turn your nose up at the glossy magazine covers on your way to the discount aisle to pick up a microwave meal for dinner but the Kardashian family are laughing on their other side of their heavily made up faces. They may be questionable at times, superficial at all times and always heading up some new controversial phenomenon but you’ve got to hand it to them, the multi-billion dollar Jenner-Kardashian clan really do know how to do business.

Call it luck or call it design but either way, Kris Jenner and her world famous family are onto so many winners when it comes to succeeding in business. Shooting to fame as a family through their reality TV show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the star-studded unit have now branched off into their own separate ventures and we think you can learn a lot from them. It goes to show that not many of us here actually watch the show but can still write this account with extensive knowledge of their respective enterprises. Here’s why you, as a budding entrepreneur or established business owner, should be taking a leaf out of their books.

Kris Jenner: Management mogul

Mothers who head up a sizeable family will be the first to tell you that it’s no mean feat as well as a drain on your time, energy and financial resources. However Kris Jenner, mother of famous offspring Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie and Kendall, is doing exactly that in between fronting her own production company, executive producing a number of successful reality television series and managing a number of other businesses on the side. If you could scrape through the layers of expensive make up and not-so-subtle silicone, there is actually some serious business acumen up there is that well-coiffed head of hers.

Just because it is very much in the limelight and often subject of social media scrutiny, the Jenner-Kardashian empire is certainly not one to be mocked. What Kris is essentially doing is running an extremely successful family business and applying impeccable management and leadership skills to do so. As creator and executive producer of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Jenner is effectively the co-founder of a world-recognised brand that is turning over billions of dollars in revenue. If juggling family life, running multiple enterprises across a range of industries and managing the reputation of the entire brand isn’t something to be commended then what is?

Kim Kardashian: Branding tycoon

Okay, so she may have climbed the celebrity ranks by releasing a sordid sex tape and piggybacking off those higher than her but isn’t that what business is all about? We’re not saying partying with Paris Hilton and baring all to the World Wide Web is the key to success for everybody but hey, Kim Kardashian is laughing all the way to the bank. She identified her strengths (her ample buttocks and sex appeal) and capitalised on it to develop what has become one of the most visible and successful brands out there right now. She was named Entrepreneur of the Year at Glamour’s Woman of the Year in 2011 and has taken the ‘if you’ve got it, flaunt it’ concept and ran with it and we think many budding entrepreneurs back on ground level could truly benefit from doing more of this.

Her net worth currently stands at around $68million and she is currently boasting an annual personal income of around $28million – kerching! The Kim Kardashian brand is certainly helped along by her 36million+ Instagram followers and nearly 33million Twitter followers but she didn’t earn these by kicking back her Louboutin heels and sipping away on champagne all day. Alright, maybe she did but that’s what her brand is all about and having a fine-tuned brand identity and buzzing online presence is one of the most important aspects of a successful business and this girl has got it down to a T.

She is totally transparent and that’s what consumers love in a brand. Yeah, so what, she cropped her new born baby out of a narcissistic selfie but who cares because it propelled her even further up the ranks of fame.  These marketing stunts are what has enabled her to own her own fashion line, open multiple retail stores, launch her own make up brand, co-found a successful online subscription service and boast her own online game which is expected to rake in more than $200m in revenues.

She’s even got brand collaboration in the bag. We’re not suggesting that her marriage to music industry giant, Kanye West involved anything but genuine romance and emotional attachment but it was certainly a lucrative love match.

Kylie Jenner: Networking big-wig

We continually stress the importance of networking to our clients, whether this is networking events or online social networking and it’s one thing that Kardashian junior, Kylie has definitely got down. Attending daily red carpet events, parties, premiers and launches can’t be too much of a chore but networking is a crucial part of any successful business marketing strategy, which is something Kylie obviously understands. Mingling amongst the right people at the right times in the right places is guaranteed to put you on a fast track journey to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

As well as dolling up and posing at various prestigious events, the savvy 17-year-old has also grown a gigantic and dynamic social media following. With nearly 10million Twitter followers and 26million Instagram followers, you can’t fault this girl’s ability to engage her audience via digital means. Earlier this year, social media was whipped into a frenzy by the #KylieJennerChallenge, where participants placed their lips into a glass and sucked into the vacuum to emulate her enviable pout.

Now, if you’re able to get millions of people across the globe to temporarily deform their own mouths, you’ve got a pretty strong pull factor!
