We all struggle to stay productive throughout the day. It gets to about 3 o’clock and the 11th cup of coffee comes out along with a fresh load of paperwork. But don’t despair! We’ve come up with 5 ways to keep you on top of your game and running at your highest level of productivity.

Hydrate and diet right

Drinking water throughout the day will keep your mind active and help stop creative block! Disaster is bound to ensure if you email your boss and your mind isn’t at its best. Having a good diet is the first rule of personal care. If you’re having five takeaways a week you can’t expect to be feeling dynamic. Fish and fruit are particularly great foods to help keep your mind from drifting off.

Me time

And… breathe. Stop rushing around like a headless chicken to get things done and take some time to do what you enjoy. Listen to some music, meditate, do yoga – these are all great ways to slow down and clear your mind. Getting away from your desks during the day means you’re physically disconnecting from your work too. During breaks take regular short walks to get the blood flowing – you may return with some fresh ideas!

Simplify tasks

Breaking down tasks into less intimidating chunks will give you the ability to tackle them piece by piece. So, you’ve got a big presentation on Monday? Make a list of small sections; how many slides? What font are you going to use? Do you need handouts? Listing things also means you’re making a note of your accomplishments. When you’ve crossed something off your list, you’ll be more inclined to continue and conquer the rest!

Early to bed and early to rise

The classic. Get yourself a goodnight’s sleep to make sure you are working at your best for the next day. You might really want to watch all of the Lord of the Rings films in one sitting, but is it really the time? Keep your routine regular; get up at the same time every day and try to go to bed at that time too. Everyone is entitled to a lie-in on the weekends of course, but maybe get up before 12? Maybe?

Exercise

Like with the short walks around the office, make sure you get that blood pumping! Going to the gym for an odd hour after work will give you a great boost, physically and mentally. Even light exercise such as taking the dog out each evening will mean you’re not always sat inside looking at a screen.
