We caught up with Manuel Sevilla Moroder, managing director of Bodega Soul, to learn a little more about the company.
Tell us about Bodega Soul!
Bodega Soul Ltd opened for business in 2016 to offer in the UK authentic Spanish wines directly sourced from small producers, stored in London and express delivered. Our website provides an in depth description on each wine to help our customers find the wine that will be best suited to them and their occasion.
These descriptions include a run-down of all the aroma hints of the wine, their tasting notes and their appearance. We focus on objective characteristics which can also be downloaded if you want to impress your dinner guests with your wine knowledge.
What were your biggest achievements of 2016?
After a successful launch In August, we are particularly pleased with those customers who, in a few months, have purchased wines from us a second and even a third time which we believe is good proof that our service level adds value to UK lovers of Spanish quality wines.
What are you looking forward to in 2017?
Since this is only early days for us, we will focus on promoting our store to grow our customer base while maintaining our level of client service. We would also like to introduce new wines to offer an even wider and more diverse range of independent, quality wines.
There are currently more than 4,000 wineries registered in Spain that produce a total of over 48,000 different wines most of which cannot be handled by supermarkets or large retailers in the UK because of their limited production or off-mainstream style. Bodega Soul tries to build a cost efficient bridge between underrepresented wineries and UK wine lovers looking for a distinct, quality wine.
Have you got a personal favourite wine of the moment?
I will confess that I have in recent years developed a preference for red Bobal, a Mediterranean grape variety with pleasant flavours of red berries and a distinct hint of bush and herbs that I love.
However, I have personally tasted and selected each and every one of our 26 current references. Any moment can be ideal for at least one of them, not to forget the tired but true saying that one’s favourite wine is always the one that can be shared with friends.
