Research carried out by Becrypt shows that an increasing number of businesses, small and large, are looking to improve their use of technology. Mobile working patterns have become popular, with flexible working hours in huge demand. This change in attitudes from the workforce has a variety of reasons, including a reduction in hours spent commuting to a place of work and family commitments. This increased mobility increases the requirements for greater technology, to protect and maintain data confidentiality.
The businesses looking at improving technology are not all large companies. According to James Bellini, business futurologist, some of the companies seeking greater technology and protection for data are small family businesses, including locksmiths and selling hosiery. Bellini said:
“What they’ve done is harness all the technologies of the new digital world to make themselves more successful. Innovation is also about how you do things. You can sell a traditional product in a very 21st century, digital way by making use of the technologies about.”
Technology can be used in all aspects of a business to make it more efficient, saving time and money for the company. Online accounting uses real time information, which allows decisions to be made on accurate figures rather than estimates, leading to a business loss. Outsourcing to an online accountancy will result in much lower accountancy fees, with greater speed and clarity. All documents and paperwork can be sent to your accountant immediately, stored safely online with no requirement for extra storage space. HM Revenue & Customs actively encourage all taxpayers, whether employed or self employed to file online for maximum efficiency.
